Spaces in the middle of Korean character inputs disappear. I think this is an annoying bug and have several histories. (I suppose this is a side effect of fixing other bugs.) The but reproduction scenario is just as follows. Please keep the order. 1. start mozilla 2. click on composer icon in the status bar. 3. then now it should be focused in a blank composer window and the Korean IME will be in English input mode. then press the Korean/English conversion key. 4. then type in 'ka' 'na' the Korean characters and then press space and then type in 'ta' 'ra'. 5. you should see 'ka''na' and 'ta''ra' will have no gap while the expectation was 'ka''na'[blank]'ta''ra'. 6. after that you can't enter any spaces... I found that in Netscape 6.2.1 release it worked differently. in NS 6.2.1 the composing(?) spaces were not seen before the next characters were typed in.

oh, my pc environment is Korean windows 2k sp2.
This happens with half-wide input mode. In current trunk build, step 6 can not be reproduced, it only happens with N6.2.1. Cannot repro with full-wide input mode.

Sorry for my incorrect report. step 6 doesn't happen.
Hi Yoon Kyung Koo, Thank you for reporting this bug. Your report is actually correct. Step 6 only happens with N6.2.1 when using half-wide input mode, but not with current trunk build.
In current trunk build, 1. With full-wide input mode, it works. 2. With half-wide input mode, it dosen't work.

joe: I think this is a duplicate of 90759. What do you think?
Yokoyama-san, I think this bug is related to bug 90759, (I've mentioned this bug in the comments 35 of bug 90759), but not sure if it is a dup or not. From testing point, it happens with different language IMEs, but it might be caused by a same reason from code. cc -> jfrancis@netscape.com, kin@netscape.com

joe: I believe this is the same problem. I am marking this as REMIND. Can test this bug once 90759 is fixed? Adding 90759 as depend.

OK, good. I will re-test once 90759 is fixed.

I tested with April 8th trunk. It works fine but still has a bug. My test environment is same with this bug report environment but the mozilla version. Steps. 1. start mozilla 2. click on composer icon in the status bar. 3. then now it should be focused in a blank composer window and the Korean IME will be in English input mode. 4. type in 'a' 5. type in a space. 6. then press the Korean/English conversion key. 7. type in 'ka' a Korean character and a space then the Korean character and the space will disappear. I suppose it occurs only the first time Korean characters are entered. (should I append this report to bug number 90759? I hope some reviewer can do that if it's necessary.)

Hi Yoon Kyung Koo, Thanks a lot for the bug verification and more info. I follow your steps at Comment #11, couldn't repro your findings on a cleaned KO Win2K+SP2, not sure why. Could you please try again with a cleaned installation (using the latest build)? you might have more findings or repro steps. Thanks again! Yokoyama-san, I verified this bug with 2002-04-09 trunk on KO, SC and JA Win2K+SP2, it is not reproducible. But, it is still reproducible on both SC and JA WinXP with Korean IME. It seems a WinXP specific right now, relate to TSF? Reopen it for now.

This is very odd. The changes I made do not know what flavor of ime is being used. It's really weird that some work and others don't. There is probably a seperate issue involved that we dont know yet. Roy (or anyone else): if you can help me reproduce this on my windows box, I will investigate.

I tested again with 2002-04-09-10-trunk mozilla-win32-talkback.zip. Still the new bug works. My test environment is Korean Windows 2k sp2, Pentium III 750MHz, 192MB RAM. And actually the IME is default IME(2bulsik) and half width input mode. Steps. 1. start mozilla 2. click on composer icon in the status bar. 3. then now it should be focused in a blank composer window and the Korean IME will be in English input mode. 4. type in 'a' 5. type in a space. 6. then press the Korean/English conversion key. 7. type in 'ka' a Korean character and a space then the Korean character and the space will disappear. I suppose it occurs only the first time Korean characters are entered. the input sequence is 'a(some English characters)'<space>'KA(any one Korean char)'<space> then the result would be 'a'

For those who don't understand Korean I'll make the steps clearer. I meant 'KA' or 'ka' to represent a Korean character (which pronounces 'ka'). I'm sorry to confuse you. If you press 'k''a' keys in sequence, those makes two Korean characters not one. To key in that Korean character I've intended, you should press 'r''k' in sequence. Any one Korean character will make that bug happen, so you need to just press the 'r' key in Korean input mode.

Hi Yoon Kyung Koo, Following your Comment #15, I can repro the new bug. This new bug is separated for more fix and is being tracked in bug 136777. I appreciate your help and thank you very much!

Hi Joe:
I'd like to help you reproduce this one, it only happens on WinXP right now,
(but not on 98, NT or 2000), do you have a WinXP with a debug environment? just
to confirm. Thanks!

ruixu: can you verify this bug with recent build? Joe checked in fix for spaces.

Tried with 2002-04-24 branch build, it is only reproducible on WinXP, (but not on 98, NT or 2000), this might be caused by Text Services Framework that is only supported by WinXP.

Moving all open keyboard/IME handling bugs to DOM: UI Events & Focus Handling component.

I think that we don't have this bug anymore because I rewrite IME handling a lot and one of them is moving handling API from IMM to TSF. So, feel free to reopen this if you still see same symptom with Korean IME even if it's a third-party's.
