Thank you Bob but that is a minor nuisance for me. The bigger nuisance is that the Print function does not work anymore. Tried to print with Firefox 47 two different web pages today into a PDF file and got a PDF file with 100-400 blank pages. I printed these pages also with IE and the PDF file is fine.
Kari, did you test again with the workround from the FAQ?
If you mean the workaround presented by Bob, I just tried it and it did not work. I am still getting 386 blank pages and they are also shown in the Print Preview. See the screenshot.
It's weird. Could you test with Beta 48, the fix is included in this version:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/all/ (use it with a fresh profile if possible)
I tried to print with PDFCreator using the proposed workaround but this software is not a problem. I just do not want to have my printer to spit out 386 blank pages.
The bug is in the Print function and it manifests in two different ways:

1) If you print the page using Firefox Print menu function, the Print dialog freezes and stops responding
2) If you print the page using embedded Print button in the page, which generates printable page in a new window and activates the Print dialog, after clicking Print button in that dialog the "Preparing to print" progress bar runs quite a while and the result may be several hundreds of blank pages.
We know all of that, but could you test with Firefox Bet 48, please.

Hi Kari,

Sorry that you are having trouble with this.
A couple of people have reported that they had to fix the prefs for all their printers to get the fix to work.

If you go to about:config and type the following into the search: paper
You should see the settings for all the printers.

If have the following for any printers, change the height and width to -1.

print.printer_<printer name>.print_paper_height = 11.00
print.printer_<printer name>.print_paper_width = 8.50
print.printer_<printer name>.print_paper_size_unit = 1

I hope this fixes it.

I have tested the Firefox beta version 48.0b10. Same problem still exists. Print function is not responding when trying to print a web page.
"If have the following for any printers, change the height and width to -1." I did this and this workaround fixed the problem at least for Firefox beta version 48.0b10.

Excellent, it looks like it was picking up one of the other printer's prefs that were also invalid.
