Possibly a dup of bug 73693, but slightly different. In a prior build I had no problems sending through my SMTP servers that require my username and password (sorry, I don't have the exact number - it was a nightly - likely 2002013106-trunk). Now in .9.8 and 2002030208 I am not able to send through SMTP servers that requires authentication. I am trying two, and although I am not the admin and do not know 100%, it is verly likely that the servers are NOT Microsoft. I always get a "The mail server responded 5.7.1 relay failed" message. I would like to send you a SMTP log but cannot find how to enable logging. I marked this as critical because I am not able to send email from Mozilla (and I absolutely refuse to install Outlook without kicking and screaming!!! but I do need email - I am sure I'm not the only user like this, and since it's with two different SMTP servers I'm sure it's not a server problem). Thanks for any help you can offer - if I can be of further assistance (i.e. supply a log) please ask! Sincerely, Josh
Thanks to Matthias I was able to get a log for you. This file contains communications with both servers I'm having trouble with. One actually is Microsoft, but it's not my preferred server any way (it's my backup). Any additional info needed? Please ask!
Trunk build 2002-04-08: WinXP Using an SMTP Server that requires authentication, we opened Mail and did not login to the account. Created and sent a message and a password dialog appeared. After entering the password the message was sent so this appears to be working in the latest build. Josh, have you tried a more recent build?

I am sorry - I should have updated you. This began working just as magically as it stopped. I do not know what caused it to stop, or what caused it to begin either. I do know that at the time it was in fact a problem (at least in my case) - I had confirmed it with 2 servers. I am currently using 2002040503 and have no problems with mail. Thanks everyone for your hard work!!!! Keep it up! Moz gets better with each build!!!!
