In about:preferences under the Privacy pane there is a section to manage tracking settings. Currently there are two settings: Tracking Protection in private browsing and Do Not Track. However, the Do Not Track setting (a simple checkbox to enable/disable) is behind the Manage Do Not Track settings link.

Since this setting is just a single checkbox I see this as an unnecessary added step to activating Do Not Track. Why not just have this setting directly on the Preferences page? Unless of course there's immediate plans to expand the list of Do Not Track settings.

Screenshots to follow.

Sorry for the spam, but can I add my +1 to this. The DNT setting is not easily discoverable anymore. I just found out about this change (it hadn't always had it's own popup, but was right within in the page). I just came across http://cookiepedia.co.uk/ which opens a "accept cookies from our site"-bar at the bottom and via a button there opens the site's cookie preferences. In the "Performance Cookies" tab is a check box "active", which is unticked by default, if DNT has been set. As this box was ticked for me, I only then realised that my DNT for FF hasn't been set yet.
Actively looking for it, I found it, but was a bit confused about the same thing as Anthony mentioned above, that this single checkbox is hidden within a popup.

The Buttons are cut off on the lower half of the DoNoTrack widget.

You are saying "Tell websites to not track my activities." better would be "Ask (plead) websites to not track my activities".

This widget is a bad user experience to make it unattractive to put a checkmark for DNT.

Please file a bug with the German locale. The de_DE locale has longer text than the en-US locale and thus uses more lines to display it. Therefore, the &window.height; entity in chrome://browser/locale/preferences/donottrack.dtd will need to be increased for de_DE.

Fixed in the about:preferences makeover.
