User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:47.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/47.0 Build ID: 20160623154057 Steps to reproduce: Using the following JSFiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/5Lsg18y5/7/ Select an excel spreadsheet file (xlsx) with the file input. Actual results: Reported mimetype is "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheet.sheet" Expected results: Reported mimetype should be "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet" Note the addition of "ml" in "spreadsheet". All other browsers report it correctly, including Firefox Developer Edition.
I got application/vnd.ms-excel.12 with FF47 on Win 7.
Component: Untriaged → File Handling
I am using Excel 2016 to save xlsx files, which are saved as the expected mime type. application/vnd.ms-excel seems to be for 97-2003 (xls) documents, which is what I get if I test with that document format. https://www.sitepoint.com/web-foundations/mime-types-summary-list/
I can no longer replicate this. I wish I had an answer for you, but I have not changed the files, nor the code in the example I gave. I have rebooted my PC since, but I cannot explain why that would alter it... Perhaps it is something on Windows that was causing it.
