User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 Build ID: 20160805112424 Steps to reproduce: 1. Start the browser and browse to any URL. 2. Right click on a link and choose "Open in new tab" or "Open in new window" or "Open in new private window" 3. Repeat action (2) in the new page which opens. Actual results: Action (3) will result in nothing happening after the first one or two URLs are opened in new tabs/new window/new private window. Expected results: The link should have opened in the new tab/new window/new private window.

This video illustrates the bug. You will notice that clicking on the "Open link in new tab", "Open link in new window", "Open link in new private window" don't work. HOWEVER towards the end of the video I have shown how CTRL-click and SHIFT-click on links works as expected.

Looks like you're using some extensions to modify context menu. Does the issue happen with safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode If it doesn't happen with safe mode, it should be a issue with some extension.

Tested in safe mode. The problem persists with all add-ons disabled.

Where do you install your Firefox from? Is it a distro package? If so, can you test with official build?

This is one additional video indicating a related problem. You will notice that when a link is right-clicked, the context menu that appears is a very long context menu with unrelated items - example: Play, Mute buttons etc also appear when a text link is clicked. This may be a separate bug.

(In reply to Tooru Fujisawa [:arai] from comment #4) > Where do you install your Firefox from? > Is it a distro package? > If so, can you test with official build? I am using Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon. I installed Firefox from the default APT repositories. Running on Dell Inspiron 15 SE (7520).

Can you try Mozilla's build? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#en-US there could be a difference between official build and distro package. If it happens only with distro package, it would be better reporting the issue to package maintainer.

Can confirm that it works as expected with the official build of Mozilla Firefox from the link given below: I am using the 64-bit Linux build. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#en-US

okay, confirmed the issue and extra context menu items with clean profile. that happens after 48 update. looks like, search setting is corrupted, and it results in context menu also broken. it should be reported to linux mint's bug tracker, not here.
