RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 563334

Details

I customized my Thunderbird tool bar by adding the Get Messages button. The context menu (if you select the down-pointing triangle) has "Get All New Messages" and a list of accounts. As reported in bug #281417, the button defaults to operating only on the currently selected account. It would be more useful if users could select one or more accounts that would then be "remembered", as indicated by checkmarks in the context menu. Use Case: I might be viewing newsgroup messages but want to download E-mail and RSS feed messages (three accounts). However, I would not want to download additional newsgroup headers (three other accounts).

This is not the same as bug #563334. This bug addresses the use of the Get Messages button added to the Thunderbird tool bar by customization. Bug #563334 addresses the use of the menu bar selection [File > Get Messages for > All Accounts]. Note that "All Accounts" does not appear in the context menu for the Get Messages button, and I am not sure if the "Get All New Messages" item in that context menu means the same as "All Accounts".

(In reply to David E. Ross from comment #2) > Bug > #563334 addresses the use of the menu bar selection [File > Get Messages for > > All Accounts]. I'm not sure how you got to this conclusion. None of those items or a "menu bar" are mentioned in that bug.

I would suggest implementing the capability to select those accounts to include in [Get Messages > Get All Messages] (a positive selection) instead of selecting those accounts to exclude (a negative selection). Accounts selected should then show checkmarks in the context menu for the Get Messages button.
