Just posting because of a desire to see Mozilla recognize some of the less common compression formats as binary files for download. (out of the box, so to speak) .ACE, .RAR, .ARJ, etc. Navigator/Communicator 4+ doesn't recognize them either, but they could be added manually. Or are the known file types just imported from the Windows Registry, with very few hard coded?

Moving to Networking. Is that the right place for this? Or would plugins be better...? Do these file formats have MIME types? It's the MIME type that matters, not the extension.

Target Milestone: M15
Bulk move of all Networking-Core (to be deleted component) bugs to new Networking component.
If some one tells me the mime type I'll add it. Other wise it will be up to the user. I am not sure what beta2 is but we wouldn't hold any release for this. Move to m16.
