Steps to reproduce:

I was logged in gmail and other sites.
I have click on that button and clear the history for past 24 hours.



Actual results:

After re-opining the browser I have open gmail and my session was active.
It is not forgetting everything. So what it is forgetting?


Expected results:

It should forget everything or users should have given proper information that what it is going to forget and what it is not going to forget, so that additional steps should be taken. 
See technical people are getting confuse about that feature think about non-technical users.
This is really big security threat. Suppose someone using PC in public places he login in to any account and instead of login-out they press on that button and left the PC now next person comes in open gmail or other....
Bingooooo enjoy someone else fb, gmail or other account details.

So Plz either forget everything or remove that button or educate users what it is forgetting or what it is remembering.

Not a security bug.

AIUI the crux of the issue you're raising is something like:

2 weeks ago -- you sign into gmail
yesterday -- you do stuff in gmail
today -- you clear history for the last 24 hours

and you expect to be signed out of gmail, not signed in still.

I think that this outcome is by design. The gmail cookies are more than 24 hours old and so we did not remove them.

I tried this on Nightly with a clean profile, and I am not signed into gmail if I delete the last 24 hours after signing in. What exactly are you reporting? How have you actually tested? Does this issue only happen with 48? Have you tried Nightly or a clean profile?

After following these when you will open gmail account is not going to ask password again.
It has not cleared your active session not cookie. So what actually it is forgetting.. nothing
this is a bug which I am reporting.
I tried this on Firefox-48, I have not checked with other.

It does ask for me - both the username and the password.

So in my case it has.

What timespan are you testing with, 5 minutes, 1 hour or 24 hours?

But you've used the same profile? Maybe with add-ons? Can you paste the contents of about:support into a comment here (use the button at the top of about:support to copy the raw text/json version) ?

OK, I don't see anything in there that would explain this. Can you check:

- if you see the problem in a new profile (so you don't have to delete any data in your existing profile - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles )

- if you can create a screencast of what exactly you're seeing (maybe empty your trash or spam folder and then show only that to avoid sharing personal information (or use a throwaway gmail account)) ?

- if, after the data is cleared and you are shown a new window, if you open the browser console (ctrl-shift-j), are there any errors in there?

:Tabs16, we don't normally close bugs as fixed unless we've explicitly done something to fix a bug or add a feature. In this case, we don't have enough information to investigate further or change anything in Firefox, so "INCOMPLETE" is a more appropriate resolution.

Hi,
I noticed that the bug wasn't reproducible when the reporter tried the same with a new profile ,so marked it as fixed, would definitely keep the detail in mind next time :)
