RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1210379

People

(Reporter: scratch65535, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.112 Safari/537.36 OPR/36.0.2130.80

Steps to reproduce:

XPsp3, pretty fresh reinstall. FF43.

Put site on exceptions list, tried to log in

Actual results:

Didn't let me. Claimed I wasn't allowing cookies

Expected results:

It should have let me in.

This is not the first time the problem has appeared, and it only affects some sites. Amazon is not bothered, freebsd.org is. I haven't yet found a characteristic common to either group.

Besides sites trying to set their first cookie, it even affects sites for which I've turned off the exceptions list and allowed them to set their cookie. When I turn the list back on, they again complain that I'm not allowing cookies -- I presume they either can't read it or can't update it (their error messages are never that specific).
Note that I submitted this bug using Opera because the submit button in FF43 (also a fresh install) was non-functional.

Can you describe more about the steps to reproduce?
put what string to which list on which page or UI, and log in on which URL ?
any other configuration?

Also, can you check whether the issue happens with safe mode and clean profile?
[sigh] I just now realised that this might be an artifact of FF only creating http: entries, leaving it up to me to create https: entries by hand. I'll check further.

You have to specify HTTPS URLs in the exception list, because if you add the domain www.example.com, by default, Firefox takes in consideration only the HTTP version.
