By "doesn't work" i mean that I can view the thumbnails, but when opening a video and clicking 'play' i get a black screen.

Wrong bug#? That bug looks like it only affects <video>, and not Flash.

I also tested on Windows 10 32-bit and it appears Flash is required there... "Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin "Adobe Flash" from running on https://www.facebook.com - I will continue testing on this platform and update asap.

Also check if you can on Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPUs. I could not repro on my home machine which has an nVidia GPU. I know we had a previous issue with the Intel chipset.

AFAICT, this bug is a duplicate of Facebook live streaming Flash bug 1254316. In bug 1254316 comment 1, cpearce was able to reproduce that problem by live streaming from the Facebook iPhone app. And in bug 1254316 comment 2, Jeromie Clarke confirmed that the Intel 4000 HD GPU is a known problem for Flash. He suggested checking for new GPU drivers.

QA Update, yesterday I produced a crash (comment 9). Today I updated the driver and I left video to  play. just over an hour i noticed the video paused. I was able to recover and continue playing w/o crash.

Michelle or Jet, what are next steps for this bug? I'm not clear on whether this is a result of Facebook switching from Flash to native, and whether we need to make changes or ask Adobe to make changes to get this fixed. Or whether it has already been resolved in fact and we just need to close it.

Michelle, is that a regression range for Flash-based streaming or <video> streaming?

The following bugs in that range might affect <video>:
49aa9281700c	Chris Pearce — Bug 1256065. r=gerald (unlikely)
1114b55d0da2	Chris Pearce — Bug 1257100 - Report we can play type 'audio/mp4; codecs=mp4a.40.29'. r=jya (possible, if Facebook changes their behavior based on canplaytype)

I didn't see anything in that range which seemed like it could affect plugin-based rendering.

I can't reproduce the problem as described. I watch videos and occasionally they go to black. This happens with the dot disappearing which seems to be end of broadcast (often temporary). I can repro this on Chrome as well.

Can we have more precise STR?
