User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:47.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/47.0 Build ID: 20160604131506 Steps to reproduce: clicked Retrieve Emails Actual results: earthlink.net contacted - then nothing happens. No failure notice, nothing. Expected results: earthlink messages should download - password saved in thunderbird. I have used thunderbird and earthlink together for years. this morning messages which I see on webmail are not downloading into thunderbird software on my PC. TB 45.2 on Windows 7 PC
Please note: Bugzilla is NOT a support forum. It is a tracking system for bugs in Mozilla products. As you said, your setup has worked for years and now it suddenly fails which doesn't appear to be a problem with Thunderbird but with your e-mail provider Earthlink. If the problem persists, we will give you some assistance how to debug this further. Have you contacted Earthlink support to ask whether they had some intermittent server problems?
According to the earthlink tech, all is well with earthlink and my server settings. Everything was checked and double checked. He believed the problem is with TB. If there is a problem of long term TB reliability on this version, wouldn't that be a bug? If I download TB now instead of waiting for the next update, would that seamlessly reinstall over my existing TB software without problems?
Unless you have a problem with the password that Thunderbird has stored (there can be issues in this area), then the problem is not Thunderbird. In general, you can get quick support at https://support.mozilla.org/kb/get-community-support > If I download TB now instead of waiting for the next update, would that seamlessly reinstall over my existing TB software without problems? Yes. But don't expect it to help, unless you have firewall or antivirus software that is interfering with Thunderbird (which is entirely possible)
