Both Shu and I were able to reproduce this. I use i3wm [1] and he uses Xmonad [2].

STR:
0. Have two windows open, full screen, on the same virtual desktop.
1. Load a page in one tab in one of the windows.
2. Switch to the second window. Wait for a couple of seconds.
3. Switch back to the original window.

Expected results:

Able to interact with the page normally (selecting text shows selection), clicking links navigates.

Actual results:

No text selection is drawn (though events are making it through: you can drag the selection if you know where it is). Clicking links results in a black page.

Note: It's possible to recover from this by switching away from the current tab to a background tab, waiting a second or two and then switching back. At that point everything updates normally until you next switch away.

It might be worth trying this on a normal WM and just hiding the content area entirely behind another window to see if this is actually related to the WM.

Mozregression points to bug 1279086.
