User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 Build ID: 20160823121617 Steps to reproduce: Close all tabs except homepage, which is set to about:blank. Clear cookies, history and cache. Shut down Firefox. Either reboot computer (XP MCE SP3) or don't. Restart Firefox. Either open a bookmark or else type in a website address and go there. Actual results: The bookmark or address opens in a separate tab next to a blank tab labeled "New Tab", so there are two tabs open. Expected results: There shouldn't be two tabs open, only the tab for the bookmark or address. It started doing this about 4 or 5 Firefox updates back.
Does the issue happen on safe mode and clean profile?

Just tried it with my extension-free profile and it didn't do it this time, but it has done it before with that profile. This is a very difficult problem to even describe the conditions about.
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 I have tested this issue on Windows XP x32 with the latest Firefox release (48.0.2) and the latest Nightly (51.0a1-20160831030224) and could not reproduce it. After closing all tabs except homepage, which is set to "about:blank" and clearing cookies, history and cache, I've shut down and restarted Firefox, the default Firefox page had opened and when opening a bookmark the website had loaded in the current opened tab. Can you please retest this using the latest Firefox release and the latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and report back the results?
This bug can be closed at this point. I just changed a setting in the TabMixPlus extension and the problem has gone away. Sorry for wasting everybody's time!
