STR: 1. Type 'toolz' in the URL bar 2. See 'Did you mean to go to toolz? [yes take me to toolz][No thanks]' 3. The default search provider was used 4. Clicking 'yes take me to toolz' takes me to my ISP's page search Expected results: 1. No bar to be displayed unless it was a typo (sometimes these are corrections, like I was expecting 'tools') 2. This shouldn't be going to my ISP's page either gKeywordURIFixup looks like it could be part of this issue.
sounds like your ISP dns server tells "toolz" is a valid host... That's a problem with the DNS server. What happens is that we search for "toolz" immediatley on the search engine, but we also fire a dns request to see if it's also a valid host. Your dns seems to answer positively, thus, since we don't know your intentions, we ask you whether you rather wanted to visit the "toolz" domain. When you confirm we ask your dns to resolve it, and you end up on your ISP search page. My suggestion would be to change your dns server to something better, but that's up to you. I don't think this is our bug, and I'm not sure how we could handle a lying dns server...
