Ability to use any font on your computer in mail compose

Details
Build ID: 2002030803
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open mail compose.
2. Try to choose a font on your computer.
I have a choice of, um, three fonts: "Helvetica,Arial", "Times", and "Courier."
This is insane. IE lets me choose any font on my computer. Was the rationale
here that not everyone has all fonts installed? If so, so what? In any event,
quite a few fonts have become standard. Most people, for example, have Verdana
and Tahoma.
This is very easy to fix. See pref-fonts.js for how we populate those menulists
with installed fonts -- just use nsIFontList. I would be eternally grateful to
whomever fixes this, as there's just no way I'll get my mom to use 6.x without
this (she loves using fonts). hwaara, maybe you can take a look? We're stuck
working on nsbeta1+ stuff.

FYI, I am working on nsbeta1+ stuff (i.e. important bugs) as well. I'll look
into it if I have time.

BTW, I do agree that one should be able to use any font of choice. Jglick, do
you agree?
dup of bug 107877?

No. I thought so, but that's just asking for defaults.
Charlie, do you know if there is a reason only limited fonts are available?

We just overlay this stuff from Editor, so either they would have to change it,
or we could make some sort of mail-specific popupmenu with _all_ available fonts.

We don't want to encourage using OS-specific fonts. We would like to have a UI
that makes users add specific fonts to a list like Dreamweaver, not generate a
list of all fonts installed.
We already have a bug on this.

I just don't understand this. The reality is that 95+% of the consumer market
is using Windows. Why are we penalizing all of them so that the minority can
read all fonts, especially when the penalty (falling back on a boring font)
isn't bad at all? My mom is not going to figure out a Dreamweaver-like UI that
forces her to add fonts. She will not hesitate to use Outlook Express, which
lets her choose the font she wants, just as Microsoft Word does.
