Details

(Whiteboard: gfx-noted)

[Affected versions]:
- Firefox 49 beta 10
- Must investigate further to see if other versions are affected. But this will take a while because of the nature of the bug.

[Affected platforms]:
- Ubuntu 16.04 32-bit

[Steps to reproduce]:
I don't have reliable steps to reproduce. Steps I used:
1. Start Firefox
2. Open a few websites: cnn.com, bbc.com, youtube.gaming.com, instagram, deviantart, pinterest, imgur.
3. Scroll through all the webpages

[Expected result]:
- Firefox has no issues painting the websites.

[Actual result]:
- After a few minutes of scrolling Firefox is unable to paint websites. This is followed by a crash in [@OOM | small}

bp-4851b248-6a1b-4158-b433-af9bc2160905

I pasted the output of the terminal (http://pastebin.com/3viRCpan) and Browser Console (http://pastebin.com/t8UNrjmq).

[Regression range]:
- Don't know if this is a regression, will investigate further.

[Additional notes]:
- I can't reliable reproduce this (only managed to repro it twice), I have to stress Firefox with the scrolling to get this behavior.
- Before the crash I can see similar cascades that were reported in bug 1299908 mostly on gaming.youtube.com.
I managed to reproduce it again with only cnn, gaming.youtube and twitter opened.
Here is a screencast (it was to big to upload it to bugzilla): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/109148197/Scroll%20issues.mp4

Can you attach your about:support here please? Thanks!

It might also help to try to get an about:memory dump (ideally just before the crash, but maybe even just after a lot of scrolling)

I'll try and provide that info as soon as I can reproduce it again, as I said, it's kind of intermittent.

I don't think this will be a release blocker for 49 but we can track it for 50 if it's affected.
Hi Bogdan, any luck repro'ing this bug?

I tried to reproduce this again on the same builds used in comment 0 and latest but with no success. I played with it the whole day but I did not encountered the same glitches anymore... Maybe it was something from Ubuntu (I do keep it up to date with the updates...)
I think I will close this bug as worksforme for now. If someone else can reproduce this please reopen it or log a new one.
