Filing this on behalf of Vangelis forthnet <northmedia1@the.forthnet.gr> from nightly-testers@mozilla.org post on 2 September 2016 at 19:16. ============================================================================= OS Specifics: Windows Vista SP2 32bit, en-US, all Microsoft Updates (up to July 2016) applied. Nightly specifics: Version: 51.0a1 (x86) BuildID: 20160901030202 Built from https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/b7f7ae1 BBC iPlayer Requirements 1. You must have a valid UK IP address 2. To access video-on-demand, you have to be covered by a valid UK TV licence iPlayer HTML5 Requirements > 1. If you do not have the Flash NPAPI plugin installed, then iPlayer will default to HTML5 in Nightly 51.0a1 > 2. If you do have the Flash NPAPI plugin installed, then do one of two things: >> a) about:addons => Plugins => Shockwave Flash => Never Activate and restart Nightly >> b) Visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/html5 >> c) On the top right click the "Opt in to the HTML5 Player" blue ribbon Steps to Reproduce: > 1. Visit a VOD iPlayer page, eg. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07pqw06/reading-and-leeds-festival-2016-foals > 2. Click the "Play" icon on the player Expected results: The video should start playing... Actual results: 1. If NPAPI Flash is not installed or it's disabled: > "This content cannot be played in our HTML5 Player. Download Flash Player now" 2. If NPAPI Flash is installed and enabled, and you've opted in to HTML5: > "This content doesn't seem to be working. Please try again later." In both cases web console reports: > Media resource blob: http://emp.bbc.co.uk/b00a382c-9759-4a66-913e-cec8c46e6360 could not be decoded. This problem was also reproducible on a Windows 7 SP1 64-bit laptop. This problem was also reproducible when running with a new, clean profile. This problem was also reproducible when running with e10s disabled. DeveloperEdition 50.0a2, Beta 49.0b8 and Release 48.0.2 appear unaffected. [Tracking Requested - why for this release]: this is a regression in Firefox 51 that could impact video playback on a major website. Note, this may actually be a tech-evangelism issue if bug 1291742 is working as designed.
