From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.9) Gecko/20020311 BuildID: 2002031104 A bookmarks.html file generated in Linux Mozilla 0.9.9 (Chris's RPMs) does not import on the Win2k version. Could be a cross-platform problem or an issue with the file. Verified that importing/exporting works in Win2k otherwise, it is just this specific file. Method of file transfer is: Linux (RH7.2 current) -> smbclient -> Win2k remote file share -> import I have verified that the file does not import, regardless of the state of the bookmarks section (empty, full, clicked on bookmark, everything I can think of). No data loss, file is not harmed, just doesn't import. I have not re-exported the file yet, and I have not tested transferring the bookmark file the other way yet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Export bookmarks to bookmarks.html on Linux 2. Use smbclient to "put" the file on a Win2k file share 3. Reboot into Win2k and attempt to import file from fileshare Actual Results: no response from import command, no bookmarks imported, no errors. Expected Results: bookmarks should be imported and added to the bookmarks list. RH7.2 current Win2k SP2 + security roll-up patch as of last week
Okay, isolated it a bit more: Linux 0.9.9 -> Linux 0.9.8 works fine Linux 0.9.9 -> Windows 0.9.8 works fine (local file) Linux 0.9.9 -> Linux 0.9.9 works fine Linux 0.9.9 -> Windows 0.9.9 works fine (local file, 98 and 2k SP1) The only failure occurs in Windows 2000 when trying to import a bookmark file from a network share (i.e., nonlocal). This was reproduceable on Win2k only, Win98 0.9.9 import was fine across the network share. Downgrading to "minor, bizarre but reproduceable", possibly a Windows bug. Linux and Win2k generated bookmarks.html files were both fine.
