Judson, which build ID are you using? Could you provide a list of steps to reproduce the problem? The WFM on Windows 2K isn't really relevant. There is no support, yet :-(, for java in the standard MacOS X nightlies. Bug 88870 addresses this. From the e-mail you quoted it looks like the reporter is just using 0.9.9 - in which case there is no Java support. This is really a dupe of bug 88870 but as that has hundreds of people on the CC list I'll avoid creating lots more spam, and just mark this as "invalid".
