Steps to reproduce:

I playback a lot of HTML5 videos on various hosting platforms.


Actual results:

Ever since I upgraded to FireFox 49, HTML5 video stops at random points right in the middle of playback. Repositioning the time stamp point, restarting the video, reloading the page does not help whatsoever. The playback dies in all of opened tabs in all HTML5 players, be it YouTube or other platform (see couple of screenshots). Only full restart of the browser helps.

This never happened to me in any of FireFox versions below 49. This bug happens absolutely every time after a while, but there is no quick consequence of actions to reproduce it, so I am not sure it will be easy, if possible at all, to debug it.

The playback should be continuous, not die.

This how the death of playback happens. For some reason the playback area becomes lighter, YT's spinner appears, and nothing but complete restart of whole browser helps.
Can you please post the graphics section of about:support?
Thanks for reply; further is "about:support" information, but it hardly helps since between version 48 and 49 I did not change any setting in the browser, I did not install or change any extensions, I did not update graphics card drivers.

I tested it in safe mode: playback stop do not seem to happen there, so probably plugins/extensions are to blame. The issue is that there is no feasible way to detect detecting which exactly. Running monitoring mode is also impossible since it generated huge amount of data. I wish there was a way to start monitoring after this glitch with playback freeze occurs and it would be still somehow useful for debugging.

Unfortunately, the console did not show any specific error other than JS (which are always there anyway).

Can you confirm if this happens when plugging or unplugging headphones, or even slightly nudging a headphone cable while it is plugged into your audio port?

I'm going to close this bug. Please file a bug with the affected addon/extension.

This bug has been affecting me for 5+ months and I don't have any add-ons installed. If this isn't going to be fixed, I'll switch to a more stable web browser.
