When the user chooses to open a file from the handler choice dialog, the file can be viewed in the selected application, but it is marked as read-only and is deleted when the browser exits.

On Windows and Linux, this read-only file is stored in the temporary directory, while on Mac it is stored in the preferred downloads directory. This meta-bug is about changing the behavior so that the file is always opened from the system downloads directory.

This is one of the simplest bugs of the Content Handling Enhancement project but I don't know the schedule.

If you're asking because of triage requirements, note that this is a meta-bug and should be excluded from the triage queries. The priority will apply to the individual dependencies when filed.
