User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.9) Gecko/20020311
BuildID: 2002031104
there's a link to download a word document, when clicked the "open/save dialog"
apears. if open is chosen, download does not start. on second attempt the
following error message is shown: "C:\{path}" could not be opened, because an
unknown error occurred. Sorry about that. Try saving to disk first and then
opening the file. i think, this used to work in mozilla 0.9.8. you can
workaround by choosing word manually over the "choose" button - this will throw
no errors
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to http://www.youngculture.com/index.cfm?wm=s%281%29m%2832%29
2.click on a link to a word doc
3.select "Open using Word"
4.if nothing happens try again
Actual Results: now you should see the error message:
"C:\{path}" could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred. Sorry about
that. Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.
Expected Results: the choosen document should be open in word

Confirmed on Win2K/0.9.9. This is not native to this site, I experienced this
bug earlier elsewhere.

I don't think this has something to do with bug 55690. There's no problem in
downloading a file, there's only a problem in opening the file directly from
mozilla. But probably the browser really tries to open the file with the
original filename while this was replaced by a "wonderfully non-descriptive"
name. I don't know how to check this.

Worksforme testing with pre-1.3 alpha 2002120708, Windows 98.
Reporter, can you download and install a latest-trunk build and test it again?
It should now work.
