This is based off some testing for bug 1275937 using the add-on located at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browser-calories/.
The popup opens quickly but goes through stages of flickering:

This was tested on 52.0a1 (2016-10-14) (64-bit) on OS X 10.10.5
