We are no longer using Selenium Grid, and are therefore shutting down this infrastructure. Please decommission selenium-mac[1-3].qa.scl3.mozilla.com (created via bug 1310999). The hardware can also be repurposed.

No-Jun, these mac mini's are being decom'd, would you have any use for them before we hand them over?

If we're building a local lab with iOS devices, we could use them as jenkins nodes - for now I don't think buddybuild supports hw testing, and sauce labs is investigating the xcode testing option but it might take them a while- perhaps we could keep the device for a few months?

Sure, lets use them as least temporarily then. Will need to get them hooked up to our aws jenkins as slaves.

If these are mac minis is there any requirement for jenkins nodes to be minis? They're harder to maintain than most hosts and we can provide VMs to run jenkins on very easily.

it has to run xcode (on mac os), and need to be connected to iphones via USB if we're doing the device testing, so I thought mini is the only reasonable option for the purpose.

What's needed for us to move this along? Perhaps these Mac Minis could be re-imaged with new hostnames provided? No-Jun, do you have a preference for hostnames? You mention wanting iPhones plugged in, which probably means shipping the boxes to an office? Could we perhaps have two bugs - this one for releasing the hardware, and another for re-purposing it?

I actually don't have any preference for hostnames. Are they currently in MTV lab? if so.. perhaps it can stay there for now? I can put the mini's on my desk if necessary, but i think rpapa has an expertise on this kind of matter. :)

No, they're in the Santa Clara datacenter.

We'll start the decommissioning process tonight. Dave, can you create a new bug for the new hosts you will bring up with this hardware? Much appreciated!

selenium-mac1.qa.scl3.mozilla.com - 10.22.73.19
selenium-mac2.qa.scl3.mozilla.com - 10.22.73.20
selenium-mac3.qa.scl3.mozilla.com - 10.22.73.21
I am unable to power down these hosts since I do not have my ssh keys on this mini.
No backups on this host.
Set as decommissioned in inventory.
No puppet entry.
Will the new host still live in the QA vlan? If not, new ACL bugs will also need to be opened against the NetOps component to ensure connectivity between services/hosts.
I've not deleted their DNS records to allow the owners to shutdown the boxes.

Additionally, if they will still live in the QA vlan, this could be as simple as a hostname change, as well as changes to DNS within inventory, unless you'd prefer the hardware is wiped and re-imaged.

I'm not sure what the plans are for the QA vlan at the moment, but lets keep it there for now until we decide. Simple rename/DNS sounds good to me.

Van,
Can you assist with re-purposing these for No-Jun and Stuart? Thanks

:njpark, we usually dont start hostnames identifiers with a 0 so i started it with a 1, let me know if that will be an issue. :vinh is going to create an account called firefoxtesting and will send you the password.
