Hi Flod,

Here's a batch of snippets we would like to localize. Any questions, let me know. Thanks!

Deadline request: Nov 5th

---------
Desktop snippets
Locales: de, fr, ru, pt-BR, es
180 character max

-The Web is wide. The Web is weird. The Web is wonderful. <a>Sign up for the Mozilla newsletter</a> to learn more about it.

-Get the inside scoop on all things Firefox. It’s the best kind of scoop after ice cream. <a>Sign up for our newsletter.</a>

-<a>Get more fox in your inbox.</a> Sign up for monthly user tips, booster packs, and Internet intel.

-Make the most of every click. <a>Sign up</a> for the Firefox monthly newsletter.

------following snippets do not have links-------

-Free thought: Eat dessert first today. Your tastebuds will thank you.

-Free thought: Ending a sentence with a preposition is nothing to be afraid of.

-Free thought: Never let a dress code get in the way of fun socks.

-The Mars Exploration Rover is currently mapping the Red Planet. Firefox is another name for a Red Panda. Coincidence? Definitely.

-Eyeball experts suggest you look away from your screen every 20 minutes. Time to get outside and feel the breeze.

-Quick! Name the last time you played hooky. If you can’t remember, you’re probably overdue.

Jean, could you please provide the links for the first 4 entries?
> -Free thought: Ending a sentence with a preposition is nothing to be afraid
> of.
Well, that might true for English ;-) I would suggest to drop this for localization.

> -Quick! Name the last time you played hooky. If you can’t remember, you’re
> probably overdue.
Does this mean "skip school" (had to Google it…) or something else?

It took me several minutes to understand this (scoop as in icecream vs news). We really should not be exposing English wordplays for localization.

Hey Flod,

So glad you think three dimensionally when it comes to languages. I would never have thought about how ending a sentence with a preposition would play out for nonenglish speakers. Let's drop that snippet.

The term "hooky" can mean to skip school, but more broadly it means to put off a responsibility without explanation so you can pursue a leisure activity. If you don't feel the term "hooky" translates well, then we can drop that snippet.

We can also drop the "scoop" newsletter sign up. Please replace the scoop snippet with these snippets:

-Join the fight for an Internet that’s open and accessible to everyone, everywhere. Sign up for the Mozilla newsletter to get involved.

-Be the Web-savviest person at the dinner table — or any table. Sign up for the Mozilla newsletter to get smart on the issues affecting your life online.

-Protect yourself, protect the Web. Sign up for the Mozilla newsletter to get tips and tricks that keep us all safe online.

I will add links for the other newsletter sign up snippets above.

Thank you for helping me through this process.

Let me know if you need anything else.

-Wes

Hi Jean,

All the languages initially requested are complete. pt-BR is 2 characters longer than maximum limit. This will be fixed hopefully soon, if you still need it.

Feel free to close the bug if there is no additional work to be done for this.
Thank you!

Peiying, the link provided:

Some translated snippets have strange number/special characters injected throughout the copy. Can you review and correct please?

Those are simply Unicode encoded characters. If you don't plan to read them via other code, look at

Sweet that was what we needed. Thanks.
