1311679 - Thunderbird "not responding" and then crashes sometimes when sending email with (JPEG) attachments totalling 10mb

Steps to reproduce:

When I send a mail with attachment (normally JPG images) pretty often (not always) mozilla crashes. It might be a result of the size of the attachments.

Expected results:

Just send the mail or respond with a message: attqachment too big or something similar.
and not just say: Mail sucessfully tramsmitted but Mozilla does no longer respond and crashens (terminates the application).

Apparently you are not getting a crash report as described at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter#w_viewing-crash-reports ?    It would be nice to get one.

Why do you think it is size of attachment?  (and what is the size that fails?)

Also, check you have all your drivers and such updated.

Hello,

I did not get a crash report that can be sent to Bugzilla.
If Thunderbird crashes the next time with this error and a crfasdh report window comes up, 
I will try to submit this report.

The JPG files attached are normally more than 10 MB when this error comes up.
It seems, that the email is sent correctly but when terminating the action (closing the send window)
it seem to generate the "not responding" message. 
It is possible to cancel the send window and if you start Thunderbird again everything seems to be OK.

Additional comment.

I think the size of the attachment ist relevant, because the error only appears, if a large amount of data ( all files - not only JPG - attached together more than 10 MB) should be transmitted.

All drivers of the system are up to date (most recent stabile drives are installed).

Please try beta version from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/
Hopefully you will get a crash report/crash ID

I still do get this error occationally.
But no bug report is generated.
Probably important:
The mail seems to be sent correctly if attachment is within the limits of allowed attachment size.
But if it is very big it sometimes takes minutes in which no response appears from Thunderbird.
But sometimes - after several minutes - it closes the send notification window.

Could it be, that Thunderbird does not recognize the "sending complete" message from the transfer
module and then generates an "out of time limit" response ?
