Using version 45.4.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2. I was pretty sure there must already be a bug on this, but I have been unable to find it. Typically I have a few threads in my inbox which are collapsed, in particular the last one in the list. When I then read mail in other folders and come back to the inbox (without new/unread messages), often times the last thread is auto-expanded. It does not happen every time and I have not been able to identify a pattern when it would expand and when not. I any case it should always preserve if a thread was collapsed or expanded. I only recently migrated from SeaMonkey to Thunderbird. In SeaMonkey that worked perfectly. pi

Boris, do you still see this issue?
bug 325252 is similar - but I cannot reproduce it.
So is bug 1411905

No, that one talks about unread view. I am in standard view.

Does it also happen if you create a new profile? (don't delete the old one)

I just had an interesting observation. The behavior seems to depend also on the second last threat. I will check new profile as well.

Also happens with new profile.
I now observed something really strange. The problem seems to happen if the second last in the list also is a threat (not a single message). Then the last in list thread is uncollapsed.
