STR: 1. visit https://twitter.com/IntenseTease/status/787684763775672320 2. press play button Expected: Video plays. Actual: "The media could not be played" error message from twitter. The actual video URL being loaded is https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/769643761907462144/pu/pl/D5r2l-gCOcMC5MXm.m3u8 . This plays fine in FF 51.0a2, not in the latest nightly on OS X 10.9.5.
As a workaround, set the pref security.sandbox.content.level=0 and restart Nightly. This should _not_ affect anything other than Nightly because the Mac content sandbox is limited to Nightly for current builds. The problem is reproducible for me on 10.9, but not 10.11 or 10.12. Whether or not it reproduces on 10.10 is TBD.
I try to triage the bug to the right team, if my selection is not the appropriate feel free to update it.
Component: Audio/Video → Security: Process Sandboxing
I couldn't reproduce this problem on 10.10 and newer. With 10.9, adding back (allow mach-lookup (global-name "com.apple.xpcd"))) to the content sandbox resulted in the Twitter videos playing normally.
Summary: Twitter videos can't play in recent nightlies → Twitter videos can't play in recent nightlies on OS X 10.9
