Crash Data

This bug was filed from the Socorro interface and is
report bp-ad4ac02a-047a-4ab5-841d-dede62161021.
=============================================================

Plugged my guitar into the microphone jack to use my computer as an amplifier & effects processor. The crash occurs before launching the effects processor - FF & TB crash as soon as I plug anything into the microphone input.

This crash also causes Thunderbird 45.4.0 to simultaneously crash. TB crash was reported here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1312038
Is it possible to reproduce the crash with a simplified hardware setup?

Sorry - I didn't get an email saying a comment had been added to this bug. I'm not sure what you mean by a simplified hardware setup. Can you give me any suggestions?
I mean reproducing the crash only with the computer, not the guitar. Just a simpler testcase.

I'm fairly confident that plugging anything into the microphone jack (even just a plug with nothing attached to the plug) will cause the crash.

I'm knowledgeable in debugging hardware and software (I have a BSEE, specializing in communication electronics and computer engineering, with post-grad coursework toward a MSEE). If you want to suggest any debugging tools to help in finding the cause of the crash, I'm open to any suggestions.

Hey Tom,

We've tried reproducing this but haven't. Can you provide more detail about how you reproduce this? Also, are there any crash reports and about support you can post?

Oops, I don't believe the crash ID I cited above is correct so please ignore it!
Here's a crash I just generated:

Dupe of bug 731812?
I plug into the microphone (analog) input jack, not a USB port. My input signal is analog. It could be the same bug, just being triggered from a different path.

That signature, [@ CLocalEndpointEnumerator::OnMediaNotification(MEDIA_NOTIFICATION_BLOCK*) ], is already in the suggested dupe.
