We added this to the app update check in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1271761. Unless there's a reason not to, we should add it to the System Addons check as well. More information in more better!
What system add-ons need and want is up to system add-ons so moving to correct component. Personally, I disagree with the more information is better and instead go with only using the required information unless there is a potential need for it or if consistency provides simplifies other aspects.

I agree - I don't think we need to target with this granularity, since we can check this sort of thing at runtime. If it becomes an issue it's easy to add, but I don't think we need to keep the system add-on update URL in sync with the app update URL necessarily.
