1313871 - 'Open in Conversation' shows only real messages part of conversation, messages list also the ones with same subject

Thunderbird 45.4.0 + 51.0a2 on Windows 8.1

Thunderbird groups messages with the same subject into a thread because references can be broken. The 'Open in conversation' feature only shows those messages which are really part of that one conversation and whose references aren't broken.

Steps to reproduce:
Have messages with same subject (and sender?) in a folder and use threaded view, e.g. send the same message three times to a test account. Click on one of these messages and the use the 'Open in conversation' feature, e.g. from the context menu.

Actual result:
Only selected message shown.

Expected result:
Same thread tree shown like in the thread of the  full messages list.

This feature gets more exposure in Thunderbird 52 after bug 546621 landed.

This is of course by design (in gloda), and AIUI the comparison only valid if mail.strict_threading is false, which is not the default. https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Message_Threading

So this is a duplicate of bug 668491, which also mentions bug 546621
