Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0
Build ID: 20161019084923

Steps to reproduce:

Restarted firefox and I got a message some extensions weren't verified and would be disabled on the next restart

Actual results:

After the restart Chatzilla was disabled because it's unsigned.

Expected results:

If Chatzilla was signed, it wouldn't have been disabled.

Are you using the build from addons.mozilla.org ?

Which extensions did this affect, as comment #0 says there were several?

I had 2 extension. The other one was Lastpass.
And yes I'm using the build from addons.mozilla.org

If both of them are being disabled it sounds like something external (like an antivirus program) modified the files somehow so they fail their signature checks.

Jorge, do we have known sources of this kind of problem and/or a metabug for it?

I don't think there's a tracking bug, but there's a SUMO document: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox#w_what-can-i-do-if-firefox-disables-an-installed-add-on

Like you said, the most likely culprits are using a file that wasn't signed and something tampering with the install package/directory.

I think we need some more detailed steps here, I've installed Chatzilla and restarted without any problems.

Do you think you could start Firefox with some logging and see if you get any details on it?

Is it also possible to check the contents of the add-on against what it should be?

Without STR we aren't sure want to do here, its working for multiple people when installing from AMO. Remko if you are able to give us more information we'll re-open.
