Steps to reproduce:

None,just received messages.


Actual results:

Version 45 and earlier!

issue 1 : Control sequence treatment has not performed.

issue 2 : Null character is being displayed.



Expected results:

Garbled characters on message list pane, subject pane show exact subject strings.

Can you please attach one of the messages for inspection.

In bug 1146099 we made the thread pane (message list) and the message/header pane use the same code. So either it all looks good now or it all looks bad now ;-) I think it will all look bad now, since the code that was doing the thread pane (bad) is now also doing the subject in the message pane.

Can you please try TB 50 beta (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/)

If it all looks bad now, there's nothing we can do since the message header is simply badly encoded. We will see this when we get a sample message from the reporter.
