If you throw an alert you can get a message that reads: The page moz-extension://..... says: It would be awesome if we could get that to say something like: The extension [Totally Awesome Add-on] says: Attached is an example from tabs-tabs-tabs when you zoom to full: https://github.com/mdn/webextensions-examples/tree/master/tabs-tabs-tabs

Simply the "name" from the add-on manifest.json would be a big improvement over moz-extensions://meaningless-data. I was hoping bug 1333376 would improve this, but the titlePreface is actually put after that moz-extensions thing, so the user can't even see it.

Is this still relevant? alert()
and similar stuff don’t include the header “The page at moz-extension://[…] says” on my Firefox. Or is it an macOS specific issue?

Try the example from comment 0 and see if it still reproduces, it probably does.
