Details
Quicktime is a very popular plug-in. When I install Mozilla, it realizes I have
Quicktime in my Netscape plugins folder and thus Mozilla is setup to use it.
However, Quicktime by default "takes over" the image/png mime type from the
browser. This is not a problem in older versions of Netscape, which have
terrible PNG implementations. But Mozilla has a nice new PNG implementation. So
we should be aggressive about taking back ownership of the image/png mime_type
in the install process.
If we don't do this, then everyone who is installing mozilla onto a system that
has netscape and quicktime installed will not be using the native PNG code.
This will lead to a lower-quality user experience and when people have PNG
problems, they won't realize that it is not mozilla's fault.
Even better would be some way in the browser to selectively grant/revoke mime
type ownership to plug-ins, but that is beyond the scope of this bug.

Over to law for helper apps, the installer is not the one which sets this up.
Contrast this with another recent bug which complained that the browser *was*
taking over types from some helper apps. I guess we can't win.
