I am using Firefox 52.0b3 on a real touch device (win8.1 tablet) and have the same problem, cannot select text any longer. This makes the browser more or less unusable. (Although scrolling is is much smoother now, which is nice...)

I can select text on an Acer Iconia w3-810 device with Windows 8.1 on Firefox 52 beta 3, with e10s activated (Multiprocess Windows - 1/1 Enabled by default in about:support).
Can you please file a new bug on Core:Selection and specify all the information you have as this bug stands only for RDM? Thank you!

Clearer the old needinfo flag.
The bug still occurs today (just tested on macOS with Firefox 67).

I observe that:
- Activate RMD with touch events enabled
- Return to desktop mode
- Select a text
The selection marks of the mobile mode are visible, as it is seen in the capture.

Worth noting: the same occurs in Chrome DevTools. Although you can select text on an actual mobile device by long-pressing some text, you can't do it in the mobile simulation mode in Chrome.

As of Firefox Nightly 78.0a1 on MacOS, the user should be able to select text when touch simulation is enabled due to the work from Bug 1623941.
I'll close this bug for now, but feel free to re-open if the issue still occurs when Firefox 78 reaches release.
