User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 Build ID: 20161104212021 Steps to reproduce: Firefox crashed and when it restarted it updated without permission. All my accounts were logged out and all my search history was gone. It was as if I'd started over new and everything was gone. Actual results: Checked the history tab it was empty, typed a frequently visited site into the search bar it wasn't recognized. Typing "g" did not bring up google instead and old bookmark not used in ages. Bookmarks are all there, as well as passwords but history has been wiped out. Never clicked for my history to be cleared or cookies. Expected results: None of my data should have been deleted and erased because I never specified any of it to be.
Did you check if Firefox starts with a fresh profile? (about:support > button to open profile) Type "Run > firefox.exe -P" and check how many profiles you have in the profile manager. If your old profile is still here, you'll be able to recover your private data: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile
Component: General → Bookmarks & History
Product: Core → Firefox
either a new profile was created for some bogus reasons (and in such a case the old profile had been copied to the desktop) or some huge disk corruption happened, in such a case I can't do much :(
