Not sure since when this is the case but we really should bring it back given that it contains a lot of additional useful information for debugging.
Ok, so we actually put the output from Gecko logging onto stdout. Main reason for that are update tests and the non-existent capability to append data to an already existing gecko.log file. Because of that we should keep it.

On the other side it would be great if we can get tracing enabled similar to bug 1317330 for plain Marionette tests.
