When using XPrint to print a webpage, the right and bottom part of the page have
large margins, like 5-7 cm. This happens while using Ghostscript for printing.

The default Mozilla PostScript module works just fine.
Reporter:
I need some infos about your system:
1. GhostScript version
2. Printer model
3. Any config files/details used to configure GhostScippt (which GhostScript
driver do you use for your printer)
4. PostScript output from Print-To-File (please choose the same printer in the
print dialog)
$ gs --version
6.51

Printer is a Canon BJ-10e; I think Ghostscript uses the bj10e driver.

about point three... the printer was configured by the configuration tool of
Mandrake, I don't know much details.

I'll attach the output in a second.
This is the file as Mozilla generated them using the xprint driver
I understand this is a problem of Xprt configuration.

The default dpi is 300 but it's not proper. This should be
configured for your printer. I changed this to 600 and
it works fine for my PS printer. Before changing this,
I'm also seeing this problem.

etc/XpConfig/C/print/attributes/

   document:
     *default-printer-resolution: 600

etc/XpConfig/C/print/models/SPSPARC2/

   model-config:

     SPSPARC2.printer-resolutions-supported: 600

In theory yes - but why does this not happen for Mozilla's PostScript module ?
CC:'ing dcone@netscape.com - the PostScript language expert.

dcone:
Can you please take a look at attachment 75037 [details] - do you see anything problematic
which may cause this issue ?
biesi:
Does this file print OK for you ?
ah, yeah, that document prints fine
I created a new Linux x86 Xprt build which contains some additional DPI values
(including 360 DPI), see
http://puck.informatik.med.uni-giessen.de/download/xprint_linux_x86_005.tar.gz

Modifying the "PSdefault" model-config and restrict it to only 360 DPI should
fix the problem...

I'd like to write a model-config for your printer - can you please provide some
information about it ?

I need the following infos:
- Full name of the printer incl. vendor name (example: "SunPics SPARCprinter
II")
- Resolutions supported (AFAIK only 360 DPI, right ?:)
- Orientations supported (I assume "portrait" and "landscape")
- Can the printer print on both sides of the paper (e.g. does it support duplex
printing ?) ?
- Which paper sizes are supported by this printer (for example: DIN-A4,
US-Letter etc.) ?
- Full name of the printer incl. vendor name (example: "SunPics SPARCprinter
II")

Canon BJ-10e

- Resolutions supported (AFAIK only 360 DPI, right ?:)

Hm... according to the printer's manual, it supports (horizontal) 60, 120, 240
and 360 dpi.

- Orientations supported (I assume "portrait" and "landscape")

This is printer-dependent, not driver-dependent?
The manual doesn't mention any orientations in the specifications.

- Can the printer print on both sides of the paper (e.g. does it support duplex
printing ?) ?

No. (Well, you can print the first page, then turn the paper around and
re-insert it :))

- Which paper sizes are supported by this printer (for example: DIN-A4,
US-Letter etc.) ?

B5, A4, letter and legal.
Taking, I'll file a model-config for that printer...
