From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9) Gecko/20020313 BuildID: 2002031312 At some sites with large pages, the initial display comes up fine, but any scrolling results in the newly-displayed area showing a black background - resulting in most of the text being unreadable. Colored text and images still show up in a sea of black. I commonly see this on Slashdot article pages which have 500 or more posts on them, and some other sites (like this one: http://sinequanon.blogspot.com/). If I scroll back to the top of the page and cause an X refresh to occur (by either picking refresh from the desktop menu or iconifying or window-shading and then restoring the window) the text will display correctly. But only at the top position - if I do this scrolled anywhere else, it doesn't help. And any scrolling will still show the same problem. I have consistently seen this problem in every milestone since 9.5 or earlier. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to a problem page. 2.Scroll with slider bar, arrow or page key. 3.See all new screen area come up black.
I just installed the Win32 version of the 0.9.9 milestone on a NT 4.0 machine, no bug there. The version of linux installed (from /etc/issue) is: Red Hat Linux release 6.1 (Cartman) Kernel 2.2.12-20 on an i686 The problem appears on both a native XFree86 server and Exceed running on NT.
Here is another great example: http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS1 Load this page, and then press down-arrow (one line down). Most of the white page will turn black, except for the blue underlined links, the floating "W3C Recomendation" sideways text on the left, and the section titles.
My bad. Upon re-check, the problem only appears on the Exceed X server - so it must be some sort of obscure Exceed bug. Marking invalid.
