Keeping track of updates to the socorro-infra repository will be be important until we fundamentally change our deployment process. If we can serve the ref of the current socorro-infra deploy, similar to our socorro ref at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/status/revision/, it will be easier to debug the current state of the application. In order to do this, I need to put a file with the ref somewhere accessible by the web server, and the web server will need an endpoint that displays that ref.

Not sure what you mean by "web server" but I suggest you just make a rewrite rule in nginx to point to a file on disk.
Also, for what it's worth, you don't "create" a whatsdeployed page. You just type in your URLs and you get a shortlink.
socorro-infra is going away, and we will soon be able to forget about it.
