As a "Nice to have", IP and last connection date might be shown as well.

Probably needs help from the client but this is primarily the fxa backend.

Thanks for the report! Can you confirm that the "Firefox 45, Windows 7" is the only device listed by Firefox Accounts? Does it get an updated name if you force a sync using "Tools -> Sync Now" or similar?

Hey there!
Nope, it's not the only device i have. Fact, that is the problem: i have 1 "FFox win7" and FOUR "Ffox linux"... Which is which? :-)
Everything works, but -for example- i reinstalled FFox on one linux box, so 3 of them are OK, one is not, and i don't know which one to disable. Actually, in the popup asking for reason of the disconnect, you might want to add "Renamed device", "reinstall" or similar

Thanks; so it sounds like none of your devices are showing the expected device name.
> Firefox 45, Windows 7
In https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1227527#c73 it suggests that proper device registration landed in Firefox 46, so it may simply be that your Firefox version is too old to support registering itself properly with Firefox Accounts.

Mmmm... wait Ryan. You may have misunderstood this ticket.
It's not that "none of my devices are showing the expected device name".
It's that -as far as i know, sure!- "none of /anybody/s devices are showing the expected device name"!
Plus:
> "it may simply be that your Firefox version is too old to support registering itself properly with Firefox Accounts"
Well... "Firefox 45, Windows 7"
Firefox 45 is not an old version, if you consider it's Firefox 45.6.0 ESR :-)
Thanks for your time Mate! ;-)

Good point :) Thanks for the report, but sadly this is WONTFIX.

The only way to resolve this bug would be to uplift a patch to Firefox 45.6.0 ESR to make it register the device name with the Firefox Accounts server; this doesn't seem in the spirit of ESR to me, which is only supposed to get fixes for high-risk/high-impact security vulnerabilities.
The next ESR release will be based on Firefox 52 and will have the updated device-registration code in place.

Installed 52 ESR.
Nothing changed.
Sad.

I'm going to re-open this because IIUC it *should* have worked. On upgrade to 52, Firefox should have noticed that it wasn't registered as a device with the FxA server and done a registration. I wonder if there's some interaction here where Firefox doesn't realize it needs to update its registration, e.g. it doesn't notice or realize that its device name need updating.
wiwwo+github, if you *change* the device name in 52 ESR, does the change get reflected in the "Devices & apps" of accounts.firefox.com/settings ?

I apologize, my mistake!
Just *old* FFox versions still show "Firefox 47, Linux".
Closing and excusing me.
