User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 Build ID: 20161208153507 Steps to reproduce: My Thunderbird 45.6.0 freezes after updating to win 10 version 1607. It happens after pressing send. I already set Thunderbird Local and Roaming working dirs from being indexed, and even stopped the index service (this had solved the problem in previous windows versions but not now). I already set the same dirs from being scanned by Windows defender, and even stopped the real time protection. I already added special entries in the windows firewall for allowing Thunderbird.exe to initiate any kind of network connections. But Thunderbird still freezes while sending mails!! When asking Task manager to analyze the "wait chain" it says: One or more Thunderbird threads are waiting to finish Network I/O. How can this be solved?? Actual results: Freezed, generally for a minuto or more.

("blocker" is described at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Bugzilla/What_to_do_and_what_not_to_do_in_Bugzilla#Severity ) ("main-thread-io" is described at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/describekeywords.cgi#main-thread-io - we don't know that is the case here) > I already set Thunderbird Local and Roaming working dirs from being indexed, and even stopped the index service (this had solved the problem in previous windows versions but not now). you mean ms-windows indexing? Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird Does problem go away?

Yes, thunderbird dirs were excluded from ms-windows indexing, and from ms-defender scan. And thunderbird was explicitly allowed in ms-firewall to initiate network connections. And it still freezes waiting for network I/O (as reported by the task manager wait chain analyzer)
OK. But what happened with ...
