Except update to TBird 45.6.0 Actual results: Lightning disappeared in Tbird 45.6.0. No calender tab, and no add-on. Worked well for a long time until now. Since TBird 45.6.0 has just been released, 28Dec16, I assume its a TBird bug. Judged by the filesize and last modification date of local.sqlite I assume the calendar data is still there. Expected results: Calendar still available.

Yes, if the add-on doesn't work, you won't lose your calendar data. Just uninstall Lightning and reinstall it.

Thank You for the advise. I reinstalled Lightning (just reinstall, no uninstall since the former install was gone) and the calendar with all my appointments was back.

There have been some reports on this recently mostly from Win 10 users iirc, which is a little bit unexpected since we fixed the roaming profile issue last year. We should dupe those reports to this one if they are reported for Window.

Although you already worked around the problem, can you (or everybody else who is experiencing the same) please describe you setup as it might bite you again with the next update? In particular, we would need to know: - Did you install Lightning initially yourself or did you get the bundeled Lightning from the beginning of you use of TB? - OS and OS Version - Location (local/network and default/custom) and file system type (NTFS, FAT32, ...) of your profile folder - Do you sync your TB profile folder with another location knowingly (e.g. for backup purposes)? If so, what sync software do you use and can you exclude specific subfolders from being synced (it might help a workaround to exclude the extensions folder from syncing the TB profile folder; if you can confirm this, please report) - For Windows users: are you using a local or roaming profile? - For windows 10 users: are you using a local account or your Microsoft account? If the latter, do you have enabled profile syncing to Microsoft (and to what extend; see your account settings)? - Has anything of your setup in terms of the dimensions mentioned above changed since the Lightning update worked along with TB update last time?

I installed Lightning separately myselft a while after I started using TBird. I.e. not the bundeled TB. As for the OS, Location and file system I've appended some of the system information below. Hope it makes sense for You and answers Your questions even though it's all in danish. I'm not quite sure about the location of my profile folder but think its local since no network folders are involved at all. I do not sync my TB profile folder with any kind of SW. I assume I'm using a local Win profile (It's all on my laptop - no network involved). And as far as I know nothing else changed since it all worked well. Still seems to be an issue. I have just updated to 52.3.0 (32-bit) and Lightning disappeared. It was no longer on the installed extensions but could be reinstalled and no data was lost. I have two other extensions installed and neither of those were lost. This is at least the second time this has happened to me during an update to Thunderbird. No warnings or anything about incompatible versions of Lightning. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 I THINK that Thunderbird was installed first without Lightning, but I have rebuilt the computer since then so I might have installed them both the second time around. Location of profile C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ (NTFS) I do not sync my profile folder. I do have an extension to sync my calendar with my android device (MyPhoneExplorer) but I was not running the sync at the time and this has been installed for a couple of years. User is on a Local profile Not using Windows 10 This has failed before, but I'm pretty sure it worked properly last time I updated Thunderbird

Calendar add-on is now integrated with Thunderbird, so it is likely this issue should no longer occur and closing this bug report as a result.
Please comment if you are still seeing a problem when using a current version of Thunderbird.
