132698 - Cannot switch theme (classic enforced, other themes not shown)

After installing, Mozilla 0.9.9 (release) came up with classic theme (it was
modern in 0.9.5). I went to Edit -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Themes, but
only classic is shown, although I checked that modern.jar is there under
/usr/lib/mozilla/chrome/. I tried to "Get new themes", and although it is
downloaded, it still won't show in the Preference dialog box.

I tried restart mozilla, no change.

I tried exiting, wipe out the content of my profile except bookmark, pref.js,
and other text file, and fire up mozilla again. It restore the files, but still
cannot see other themes.

I use mozilla rpms on Red Hat Linux 7.0

worksforme with Linux build 20020321.  Could you try a new (clean) profile? 
Also, what do you get from View->Apply Theme->

Also try uninstalling mozilla, deleting the mozilla directory (/usr/lib/mozilla)
and then re-install.

View->Apply Theme works, hey, I didn't even know it was there. :-)

Yes, apparantly it have something to do with profile. I narrow it down to the
previous prefs.js. When I started mozilla using my previous prefs.js, many thing
(especially in Preferences) become screwy, including cannot see other themes. I
cut many lines in prefs.js already to narrow the problems, so if somebody want
to go on researching this bug, I can send / post that prefs.js.

Additional notes: apparantly the error is not limited to cannot see themes, some
other 'subform' in Preferences didn't work, including Advanced->Script & Windows. 
Moreover, in many text field, when it contain (or I typed) longer that the field
size, it show misplaced pair of scrollbars (horizontal & vertical), completely
cover the text field.
