>>> My Info: Win7_64, Nightly 49, 32bit, ID 20160526082509 STR_1: 1. Open https://datamarket.accesscontrol.windows.net/v2/OAuth2-13 in a new tab. Close that tab. 2. Open https://datamarket.accesscontrol.windows.net/ in a new tab. Close that tab. 3. Open new tab, type "datamarket" in urlbar 4. Press Delete to remove autofill from Step 3, switch to the 2nd suggestion and delete it 5. Open new tab, type "datamarket" in urlbar 6. Press Delete to remove autofill from Step 5 AR: After Step 5 string in urlbar autofilled to "datamarket.accesscontrol.windows.net/" [BUT] After Step 6 urlbar doesn't show anything from history that has "datamarket" as substring to explain why on earth autofill takes place. No way to get rid of it by deleting suggestions. ER: Either X or Y X) In Step 5 string "datamarket" shouldn't be autofilled Y) In Step 6 there should be at least 1 suggestsion explaining why that autofill happens. Note: It may appear that some Firefox developer (Marco?) will look at this bug precisely and say that this is exactly what has been planned... But as for me, this behavior of urlbar falls into category "clear contradictions that should rather be marked NEW than Unconfirmed". Thanks for understanding.

If I search in history after removing all the visible entries in the urlbar, I see there's still one history entry, and this is what causes the autofill. I agree it's not really user-frendly to have to search history. I think this should depend on a better UI to ask the locationbar to remove some entries, for example in the past we discussed adding a [X] button to each entry, or a contextual menu. Even bepore we reach that point, on an autofill suggestion we should probably remove all history for the whole domain when the user tried to remove the entry.

Since the problem here is that only the specific shown url is being removed from history, and not the whole origin, this may be improved by providing more specific options from the new per result menu being added in Bug 1041761.
Note a page may be autofilled because it's bookmarked and a generic dismiss would likely not remove a bookmark.
So, while this could be fixed today, it's better to wait for per result menu so we make the origin delete operation more understandable (we want to avoid the user to unexpectedly clear the whole origin unless they want to).
