Currently, there is a default limit of 2 for persistent HTTP connections to a
given domain (network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server in all.js), and
of 4 for non-persistent connections (network.http.max-connections-per-server).
These limits are (I believe) according to W3C recommendations.
It would be useful if these limits were increased, to accommodate use of SOAP
services. It is to be expected that SOAP services will become increasingly
integral to the Web. SOAP services are HTTP connection hogs. The current
limits seem excessively restrictive. I propose that they be doubled.
Separately, I have proposed that limits for the local domain be increased
further (see http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132818 ), and that
limits for localhost be eliminated (see
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132816 ).

Regarding this issue:
Win95, Mozilla 1.0 nightly build 2002042806
Having one browser window with 4 tabs, each fetching from another server,
6 download windows all fetching from the same server
4 more browser windows fetching from different servers opened last, in rapid
succession triggered the following :
- no data was received anymore
- stopping 3 browser windows and 2 more from the tabs and data reception resumed.
- restarting fetches, and again data stopped coming in.
- new windows with fetch request display nothing on status bar. If stopping
other fetches (like nr. 2 above) window will display on status bar "sending
request..." and proceeds fetching the page.

The limit is currently higher.
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server is 6
network.http.max-connections-per-server is 15
