(Whiteboard: [needsdiagnosis])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0
Build ID: 20170103030204

Steps to reproduce:

attempt to visit the Chevron Texaco Credit Card web site using:
https://techronadvantagecard.com/

Actual results:

I get web page stating "Your connection is not secure".

This is very likely a Tech Evangelism bug. The ChevronTexaco telephone support agent was non-committal regarding whether they would be fixing the problem to enable Firefox to access their site, and recommended using Chrome.

Expected results:

Securely visit the target web site.
Component: Untriaged → Desktop
OS: Unspecified → All
Product: Firefox → Tech Evangelism
Hardware: Unspecified → All
Version: 53 Branch → Firefox 53
Thanks for the report Ronald. It appears that Chrome and Safari also prevent access to that site.

Error details:

techronadvantagecard.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. The certificate is not valid for the name techronadvantagecard.com. The certificate expired on December 17, 2011 at 6:32 PM. The current time is January 3, 2017 at 8:35 PM.

But navigating instead to http://techronadvantagecard.com gives a 302 redirect to http://www.chevrontexacocards.com.

This site has a javascript redirect to https://www.onlinecreditcenter6.com/dualcardimages/generic/chevron/en/chevron_index.html which loads in Firefox 50 and 51, but not in 52 and 53.

So I think this is actually a duplicate of bug #1317857.

See the other bug for details but the servers are using outdated NSS, which needs to be updated. This site won't work in Chrome Canary, so they have to fix this issue. Closing this report in favour of the other.
