From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.7) Gecko/20011221 BuildID: 20020311 (0.9.8 and 0.9.9) The Classic theme has icon dislay problems where all the icons and icon masks appear to be offset. This issue was not present in version 0.9.7 and only appeared in 0.9.8 and 0.9.9. Changing to other themes such as the Modern or other downloaded themes appears to be less messed up, but still have similar problems on say the toolbar gripper. (Too bad I can't included screen captures!) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Mozilla 0.9.8 or 0.9.9 under Windows 98 2. Start Mozilla with a brand new profile Actual Results: Notice the toolbar icons are very strange looking. Expected Results: For the toolbar to appear like the 0.9.7 Classic toolbar.

Albert: why do you say that you can't add screen captures? It would be very useful if you could add one picture, just use this url: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=132891&action=enter (the "Create a New Attachment" in the bug page)

I'm also experiencing the same problem in win98. Netscape 6.2.2 classic skin looks fine. I've deleted every trace of mozilla including entries in the registry and all profiles. Downloaded the latest build ...same problem. The classic looks OK in w2k using the same hardware config as win98.

I just noticed that if I load a webpage with a java applet. The toolbar icons begin to display correctly when new windows are opened or when the mozilla window is refreshed. Refreshed meaning hovering my mouse over the toolbar icons or when minimizing and restoring window.

I've seen other unconfirmed reports of this in bugzilla and in discussion forums but can't find any reports besides this one so I'm setting it to New.

I can confirm that in Win98 (first edition) that the classic skin (only) has messed up icons. The Modern skin appears normal. I am currently using version 1.0.
i don't know the difference between image: gfx and imagelib for something like this.

Albert, does your computer have an ATI video card? I'm seeing the same effect on Windows 98, and it seems to be bug 104922.

Er, I mean bug 104992. Sorry.

Albert, is the problem present in post 1.0 build? -> 1.0 Branch for now
Version: Trunk → 1.0 Branch

Albert, please answer: was this bug seen with an ATI graphics card? (is it still?) This ist most certainly a dup of bug 104992. That bug was also seen with Mozilla 1.5, so this bug here is not 1.0 Branch only.

I'm experiencing the same problem with Firefox, I had the older version of 0.9 and didn't have the problem. I installed 1.0PR, and this occured. I then installed the upgrade to 1.0 and that didn't fix the problem. I then unistalled 1.0 and then tried a reinstall. That didn't work, then uninstalled and then deleted everything from registry that had to do with Mozilla/Firefox. I then searched all of the hard drives on the system and deleted all files/folders for mozillafirefox. Then ran the install again and still having the problem. I'm running Windows 2000, 256 MB. I have had Mozilla and Netscape installed at one point, but have uninstalled it.

I'm also getting this in firefox 1.0, however I'm seeing it on WinXP so I'm moving OS to All. (This doesn't happen on my linux machine though, so I'm inclined to believe this is windows only... ) It appears that the problem with firefox involves the background of the icons not displaying correctly, or artifacts of the rest of the UI (most often the File Menu Item) appearing instead of a solid color background. hovering over and off of the icons can change the artifacts as well.
OS: Windows 98 → All

if a bug only occurs on windows, do not set the OS to all... rather, set it to the earliest version the bug is seen on.
